Newb Tuesday

Newb Tuesday is here!! Can't believe it's already Tuesday (almost Wed.) but a part of me wishes it were the weekend right now. Right. Now.

Here are the songs!!

Sorry
By: Madonna

This song gets pretty addictive! Even though I'm taking Spanish, I have no idea what-so-ever of what she's saying in Spanish (I think that's what she's speaking in some parts). Anyways, good song!!

Smooth Criminal
By: Michael Jackson

Big time favorite!! LOVE this song!! Michael Jackson is a genius when it comes to music!! First heard this song on America's Got Talent a couple of years ago and have never stopped listening to it since (not literally you guys). Good. Song!!

Enjoy!!

Couch Potato

I've been a couch potato all weekend......which I'm very proud of by the way. I'm soaking up every bit of it 'cause I don't know when I'll have another free weekend like this. Gosh did it feel good to sleep in!!!!

Today I had to mow the lawn (plooey). But on the plus side, it's my last time mowing the lawn....until next year. Thought it was kinda funny how my 'rents were saying, "Oh, it's good driving practice." Yeah, don't fall for that one. I don't hate mowing the lawn, it just takes a lot of time (big yard).

Eatin' some yummy ice cream right now. I gave my ice cream the mother load of choco. syrup. I've been scavenger hunting for some bit of chocolate ALL weekend. Just to let you all know, I'm choco. deprived and I need, no, I NEED some delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, creamy chocolate in order to survive. Diamonds are not a girls best friend, chocolate is by far. Chocolate's good for the soul!!

Got back from a church kick-off a little while ago. So glad it's my last year of church classes (I'm being confirmed this year). I've been going to church classes since.....gosh, since 2nd grade or so. Long time. The kick-off was boring (2 HOURS) soooo glad it's over with.

There was this guy there (my grade, different school) who was like, "This is a good place to meet girls." Ugh. Is that ALL guys think about?? Yeah, I think of meeting a guy someday, but....really?? Church?? What's up with guys these days....or were they always like that??

Lots o' Love,
Scarlett October (xoxo).

P.S.~~I've still got 'Teenage Dream' stuck in my head! How long has it been now....a month? Longer? Hey, I'm not complainin'! It's a good song!!

Updates

Sorry I abandoned you guys!! I'm still here and I got some updatin' for yous ;P

Found out my dad has one kidney stone and he's still trying to pass it. The worst part's over (the stone passing through the kidney) and he has no more pain. He has to take two kinds of pills though and they're super strong (they make him lightheaded). Glad it's not cancer.

I had to study my little tush off Wed. night AND Thurs. night. Wed. for this icky U.S. History test (which wasn't that hard, but a few questions caught me off guard. Oh, and I think he took out the in-class essay part--which is ALWAYS a good thing!). Thurs. I had to study for math and english. I did good on the math test and probably did good on the english one. But the teacher dude is soooo weird. I was the last one to finish up my mini-essay responses and he came by and said, "Okay, you have to be done now." Thankfully I just finished and I told him that too. But what a BUTT (I really want to say something else, more than a few words, but.....no. Not that kind of person). He said it in a snotty way like, an impatient way. And we still had 6 minutes of class left!! Sorry I take soooo much time and that I care about my grade. And most accel. english teachers are like, "You're in an accelerated class, so I expect more from you than others." And when most of the class does bad on a writing assignment they're all like, "I expected way more from you guys. You really let me down and blahblahblahblahblah...." Doesn't he want me to do good?? Whatev. I'm just glad I finished the stupid thing.

Friday was the school's pep fest for homecoming and it was.....okay. Last year we had the band playing, strobe lights flashing, AND cool extra activities (a hypnotist, battle of the bands, and guitar hero competitions). This year we had the band play again, a cute competition between the Princes and Princesses and King and Queen involving spoon feeding some nasty looking choco. pudding, and a short dance competition. No extra activities, no strobe lights. It was alright this year, but last year was way better. Oh, and it felt SO good to boo the freshmen (BOOOOO!!).

I went to the football game last night and met up with my friends. Sadly, we lost 46--0 (I know, pathetic) but we cheered on our team with amazing cheers. We played against an all boys school and there was a chant about how we got girls and they don't (don't remember the words, but it was awesome). People were throwing out keychains and necklaces to the crowd and I got hold of a key chain (I would've liked a necklace, but a keychain's cool).

I slept for most of the day today. Okay, so I went to bed at like.....12 this morning (it feels weird to say that) and woke up at 11:30 a.m. After a shower, some singin' in the mirror and a yummy lunch, I took a "little" nap with Miss Spaz (if you don't remember, she's one of my adorable cats) and woke up at 6:45 p.m. I KNOW!! I can't believe it either. I think I'm not sleeping good at night. I have one of those sleep number beds and I think I need to readjust the numbers.

OMG!! Tonight's the season premiere of SNL (Saturday Night Live!!!!)!!!!!!!! Amy Phoeler's gonna host (she used to be on SNL) and Katy Perry's gonna sing (hope she sings 'Teenage Dream')!! I'm for sure gonna watch it. Wish I had one of those T.V. show recorder things that records the show and you can watch it later, anytime. But if I want to see something, I better watch it when it aires, even if it means sacrificing some sleep.

Lots o' Love,
Scarlett October (xoxo)

P.S.~~ 'Rents are watching "The Great Outdoors." Ugh, that movie is soooo.....dumb. It used to be funny, but after you've watched close to fifty times, it gets kind of not-funny-ish.

Hospital

Mom and dad are going to the hospital right now. Dad's not getting any better and he can't wait for the appointment tomorrow. Hope he's alright....

I'll keep you guys updated.

Lot's O' Things

This last week or so, my dad hasn't been feeling so good. He's been home from work, sicker than ever, and he always has to go to the bathroom, but he can't go. And his urine is mixed with blood, he doesn't eat much, and he's always giving out these painful groans.

He's going to the doctor's tomorrow and they're going to run some tests. He's been taking some pills 'cause they thought it was a bacterial infection from ecoli or something. The infection is gone now and something else seems to have taken its place. They say either it's a tumor, a polop, or something else. Mom thinks it's kidney stones but whatever it is, it's gonna take surgery to fix it.

I'm worried. It seems like every few years he has something going on. Last spring it was an infected lymphnode in his stomach area, a couple years before that it was a hyrnia, and now this.

I don't know. He needs to take care of himself more, I try telling him that, suggesting things. I'd think it'd be fun to get a gym membership for the whole family, do some family stuff.

Ugh, anyways....did some stupid studying tonight. That always takes up time...a lot of time. The test is in 2 days, but I want to get a little ahead so I'm not overwhelmed with loads of info.

This week is homecoming week for my highschool and each day has a different 'theme' that you dress to:

Monday-Blackout v.s. Whiteout~~You either dress in all white or all black
Tuesday-Classy v.s. Comfy~~Dress in classy or comfy clothes
Wednesday-Battle of the Classes~~Wear your class color....Freshmen-White....Sophmores-Red....Juniors-Yellow....Seniors-Camoflauge
Thursday-City v.s. Country~~Wear "city" or "country" clothes
Friday-School Spirit Day~~Wear school colors/spirit wear

It's fun to dress up and stuff but I wish I had clothes that actually fit the days. Monday I wore some black; today I didn't really wear comfy clothes and I had no classy outfits; tomorrow I'm gonna wear red but wish I had some gray jeans to go with my red top; Thursday I'm gonna do country but need an outfit for it, and Friday I need to get some Tartan clothing.

Because of all the time I spend indoors (school + homework) it seems like the days are wasting away....

Newb Tuesday

Has it really been 4 days since I last posted? Wow. That went by fast.

As I promise every Tuesday, here's some new songs for yas:

Down To The River To Pray
By: Alison Krauss (it's on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack)

This song is soooo beautiful! Alison's voice is so clear and inspirational. I love the harmonies and the background voices of the choir. I listen to this song whenever I'm feeling down and it brings me right back up.

Tiny Dancer
By: Elton John

I couldn't stop listening to this song the first time I listened to it. I love Elton's songs and his PIANO PLAYING!! Amazing!!

It's getting late and I'm in desperate need of sleep (again). Night!!

FRIDAY!!

WAHOOOO!! It's FRIDAY!!

Omg, I'm soooo happy this week is over!! It's been long (and boring) and I'm so tired from waking up early. Ahhhhh, weekend, here I come!!

School was alright. My eyes started to get all heavy and sandpaper-y halfway through the day. I seriously thought I was going to fall asleep. Can't wait to go to bed tonight!! I need me some sleep!!

This whole weekend is gonna be homework free!! I finished it all when I got home and plan on doing that for the rest of the year. Other years, I used to wait until Sunday night or the last minute to do it. I learned the hard way that procrastinating and staying up super late finishing something I could've done way sooner isn't worth the stress.

So, I'm gonna relax all weekend (all 2 days. Oooo, how 'long') but I can't help saying this enough: I FREAKIN' MISS SUMMER!!!! Giggles told me that we have like, 49 weeks of school left or somethin'. That's like....about 4 summers!! (Oh, remember when I mentioned how I think Giggles doesn't like me? Stupid of me to think that).

Have a great weekend!! I'll post soon!!

Lots o' Love,
Scarlett October (xoxo)

I Survived!!

I've survived not only one day of school, but two! Yes, TWO! Only a 160 or something more to go. I should add on a countdown thing to countdown to the last day of school.

Believe it or not, I'm already thinking about next summer (eeeee!!) and I'm for sure going to make a bucket list for myself. It's not an option. I HAVE to make one. I love adventure soooo much, so I'm gonna go on a few adventures myself! Oh, and my friends and I have got to make (another) bucket list. We made one at the end of 8th grade but it somehow disappeared.....

The first day of school was alright. I was happy to see all my friends together again!! They all looked great!! Other than that my teachers are kinda weird (except for my art teacher, she's cool! I have a feeling she was a hippie back in the day....)

The day was so looooong and boring. Today and yesterday. I've been so tired lately (not getting enough sleep). It seems that I wake up early, go to school, come home and do homework, go to bed, wake up early, go to school and over and over again. Ugh. What kind of life is that??

I don't want you to think that I have this horrible attitude towards school. I don't. I do my best in class, I'm a 4.0 student and I'm gonna be on the National Honors Society (NHS) team thing. It's just that school gets boring and 'old' and I feel at times like I'm wasting precious hours of my life I'll never get back.

Bottom line is, they need to make school more interesting, exciting and fun. How? I have noooo idea. Well, maybe instead of reading about places and looking at pics of exotic animals, why don't we go and see them for real?? Talk about an adventure!!

I'm soooo sorry I forgot about Newb Tuesday yesterday!! I was swamped with homework (on the FIRST day of school! Come on!) and I was super tired. My apologies. Hopefully it won't happen again. Here are the songs:

Alone
By: Celine Dion
(hehe, nice color choice, huh?)

I love this song!! It was originally sung by Heart (that '80's band who sang 'Barricuda'). Both versions are awesome! I never get tired of this song!!

White Flag
By: Dido

Another oldie but a goody. This song makes me all teary. I want to learn this on the piano so bad!!!!

Enjoy!!!!

Scarlett October (xoxo)

Oh. My. Agosh.

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of summer vacay :( This summer just flew by. Or fall snuck up on us..... anyway you put it, summer is over. Sorry to spoil things, but summer is over (not officially, but when school starts, uh yeah, vacay for mwah is ovah. Dumb, I know. I feel your pain).

I don't know how I'm gonna spend my last day of summer. I know for sure I'll sleep in (my last sleep-in day. The weekends don't count. Holidays don't either. I'm talkin' about summer vacay here folks!). Hmmmm...what else....I'll for sure try to soak up every last bit of summer. Every bit. Hopefully it's nice and warm tomorrow (the weather's been very fall-ish and cool lately. I'm hopin' for some serious beach weather, but I'm not countin' on it very much. Stupid weather people had to smash my hopes. Then again, they've been lying pretty often lately).

We'll see how tomorrow goes. I know for sure I'll be sad (who wouldn't??) And setting out all my school junk for the next day, laying out my clothes, going to bed early......ugh. It's gonna be 'fun' tomorrow night. I always get those 'day before' jitters. Whethers it's the day before a piano recital, the day before a special event, the day before school, I get the jitters. My brain keeps me up all night and because of that I can't sleep. It sucks.

Ugh, you know how on the first day of school the teachers are like, "Okay, now tell us your name, your favorite color and something fun you did over the summer"? OMG! You know how elementary that is? I mean, come on! Whenever I hear a teacher say that I'm soooo annoyed. It's one of those things that just annoy me for no reason. I had a teacher who did that question thing last year. Talk about pathetic.

I'm seriously bummed out. Soooo bummed out. Summer is freakin' amazing! As much as I love fall, I don't want summer to end. The warm weather, sleeping in, 'me time', just all around amazingness!! But I do love the smell and feel of fall. Mmmmm, the air is so crisp. I love it. Same with winter. Winter is so romantic and I love it when it snows those big fluffy flakes. Sometimes I just lay in the snow on my back and look up at the sky or close my eyes. It's so quiet and peaceful. It feels as though the world has stopped just for me. The feeling is so peaceful. Spring is alright. Besides all the melting snow and mud, I have a separate appreciation for that season. It brings new beginnings and new life and I love the feel in the air. Oh, and spring flowers are lovely. My mom has a humungo garden (I'm serious people. The garden practically takes up the whole yard, front and back and the yard is big. No wait, the garden IS the yard). You might say I love all the seasons, and I do. It's just so hard to see them go when I just start to get used to them.

Baby Boom

There's a baby boom in Hollywood....again. Why does it seem that evey few months or so a good handful of Hollywood's 'children' are expecting their own? Anyways, here's some of the pregnant stars:
Alicia Keys (I just found out she was pregnant today)
Celine Dion (Twins! She's been trying really hard to have another kid and she's expecting twins!)
Christina Applegate (I love Christina! A breast cancer survivor *wahoo* I'm so happy for her!)
Miranda Kerr (She's that Victoria's Secret model who married Orlando Bloom. Awww, cute couple!)
Samantha Harris (She hosts 'Entertainment Tonight' sometimes)
Am I forgetting anyone??

I think babies are cute....sometimes. I'm not really interested in all the pregnancy details, just who's pregnant. Ugh, I can't stand the birthing part. I am for sure (FOR SURE) scarred for life after I watched a birthing video 2 years ago in health. Miracle of birth? Yeah right. The baby's head (I don't care what people say) was NOT small, it was frickin' HUGE! How do women push that out?? It was bigger than the mom's head!

Then it was all blue and had a thick film of creamy white stuff and blood all over it. How do those doctors stand it?? Why are they even interested in the job??

I realize that it's a special moment and a new life has entered into this world. But WHY does it have to be how it is? Why does a baby have to come from 'down there'? Why can't the process be like one of those plant and grow things (kinda already is, I know). Like, you buy a 'baby seed', throw it in some water with a few drops of both of the parents' blood and you watch it grow. Kinda like those toys that grow bigger and bigger in the water. You know how easier life would be??

And what's so hard about the guys part? Women are the ones who have to do all the work: Grow the baby, beat through all the icky pregnancy stuff, GIVE BIRTH, and take care of the baby, la di da di da.......

Hmmmm....then there's the thing about how we have periods.....

I don't know. Giving birth is extraordinary and I'm amazed at what women (I still consider myself a teenager) can do/are capable of doing. Growing a baby is hard work and I'm proud of my fellow ladies. We're superhuman. Dude, we can grow another human. How cool is that?

I was watching Jay Leno a couple of nights ago and there was this comedian doing stand-up. This isn't exactly what she said, but pretty close:
"Guys think they're so much better than women. 'I went to Eagle Scouts. I can make a rope.' Oh yeah? Well women can reprodoce. Yeah, we can grow another human. And know what else? It comes out on a rope!"
Haha, thought that was pretty funny.

Okay, this is a random fact, but I like random facts. Elephants are pregnant for 2 years. 2 YEARS! They have to carry their child for 2 YEARS!! How amazing is that!

OMG!! I wonder if my Driver's Ed teacher and his wife had their baby yet! Okay, so in June I went to Driver's Ed and I had this unbelievably HOT (SOOOO HOT) teacher and his wife is pregnant with their first child and her due date is this month (Sept.). I'm soooo happy for them!! Oh, and it's amazing to have a hot teacher. Whenever he looked at me (he had amazing eyes! A light blue/turquois color) I got that butterfly feeling. Don't worry, it was just a crush.

Anyways, he's a 2nd grade teacher (awwwww), he's funny and......hot. He looks like that Ian Somerhalder guy (exactly like that guy). Look him up. You'll probably sa-woon over his pic. He's one hot dude!! (And yes, he's from the Vampire Diaries. Told ya I was kinda obsessed with that show) ;P

*Show Me Those Pearly Whites*

Just got back from the dentist and I've got good news....NO CAVITIES!! YEAH!! WHAAAOOOOO!! I don't know about you but I'm beyond happy when I receive this kind of news!! It tells me that my hard work has payed off :)

I brush everyday, morning and night. I floss everyday, morning and night. AND I use mouthwash everyday, morning and night. Call me a brushing fanatic but I like to keep my teeth healthy. I guess I shouldn't be very surprised if I don't get a cavity then. BUT, fate can take a few unexpected turns, ya know.

I wasn't always a good brusher. I remember when I was 9 I got my first (and only, so far). cavity. I was devastated!! Stupid me. So since then I've been a master at brushing and it'll stay that way.

You know what I don't want to happen to me when I get old?? False teeth. I NEVER want to get all my teeth pulled out and then have to put a tray of fake teeth in my mouth. It's horrible. Do they just numb you up, pull all your teeth out when you're still awake and you can feel the hard yanks and the loud clinks of your teeth being dropped into a bowl? It's horrible. Gives me the shivers.

I don't know about you, but the smell of the fluoride and polishing stuff gives me a headache.

Hope you guys liked the songs I recommended!!

May you have a moment today that makes you smile like you've never smiled before :)

Lots o' Love,
Scarlett October (xoxo)
